Ever seen a DL100???

For those of you who've been asking about it, here's a peek at the new DL100.

This is a final production model that is now on a test plane here at DLUSA, and being put through its paces. To start with, it's being flown on "Porky", our 24lb Yak after which it will be moved to our 29lb CAP 580. We'll try and get as many hours on it as quickly as possible and also keep track of how it performs as time goes by. I'll try and get some videos of it too. Regrettably our weather here hasn't been all that cooperative lately though.

The CAP 580 has had a Brison 106 and a DA 100 on it at different times so it'll be interesting to see the difference in flight characteristics between the three engines.

Along with exceptional performance, a terrific price will make it an unbeatable value. More details will be announced in the near future.

Engine case has been improved…

DLUSA is proud to announce yet another improvement to the DL50 engine; the crank case mounting “ears” have been increased in size by roughly 160%. With the increase in size comes a similar increase in strength and resistance to damage.

Please keep in mind though, we still don't recommend crashing your airplane to test their new strength.

 Alternative mounting method implemented…

Along with the strengthened crank case, the mounting brackets have been replaced with more traditional stand offs.

The stand offs have a wrench holding provision on the outside / engine end for ease of bolt tightening.

The stand offs are now included with each engine unless you choose to have the previous 2nd generation mounting brackets included instead.

Impact…

Regrettably, the changes are not without cost. The selling price of the engine has increased to $390, still the best value in RC today.

BEWARE of new "dealers"...

There are a couple of individuals / companies (VVRC), that are now pretending to be factory authorized DL engine dealers. They are NOT; they are buying Chinese market engines (engines made for sale and use in China), from Chinese resellers and NOT from the factory. Their engines will not have the same factory warranty support that DLUSA engines do, nor will they have the same pre-shipment quality control inspection / correction processes applied to them. DL engines are serialized and are warranted to the original purchaser. If you buy a reseller engine, you are buying a "used" engine for warranty purposes. If you buy a "used" engine, make sure you pay a used price. The factory is aware of the situation and will close down their supply so they will soon no longer have access to engines either. DL chooses their dealers in a manner similar to how other manufacturers do, and for the same reasons. As with other manufacturers, they don't want just anyone acting as a dealer. Just because someone might want to, they can't for example, just start selling Chevrolets as if they were a dealer.

Exhaust system has been improved...

The exhaust system end caps have been changed so they wrap around the ends of the exhaust "can". It is still a side mount style as before. The change will reduce the chance of leaking, increase the systems overall strength and also improve its looks. The new system is now included in engines currently being shipped. Other pictures of the exhaust can be seen on the ENGINES and HOME pages.

Ignition system reliability has been enhanced...

A "version 2.0" ignition system has been released and is currently shipping with engines. A component change was made which will enhance the systems long term reliability. For those of you with the earlier version, don't worry, there's nothing wrong with your system. This change only makes a great system even better.

Bad Brad Graphics now has a second style sticker...

www.badbradgraphics.com is now selling cowl stickers as you see here, for those that like a less Asian look. They can be ordered in various sizes and colors to suit your specific application.

Brad is awaiting delivery of his own DL50 engine which he plans to install on a Hangar 9 Extra 260 just like the one you can see on the PICTURES page. I'm sure he'll enjoy it; it's one heck of a combination.

Engine Mount has been re-designed...

The engine mount has been re-designed to increase strength and impact resistance. It is currently being included in all new engine shipments.

Note: this bracket has been superseded by the stand-offs shown above.

ARFs from DLUSA in the future???

Yes, it could happen. We're looking at importing some 50cc size ARFs to go with the DL engines. Quality and value will be key attributes of those we choose to bring over and samples will be thoroughly tested before we sell any. We're looking at a supplier that has some exciting products that we've never seen over here. We're a month or more away from selling them but rest assured, when they arrive they'll be worth considering.
